It is long and narrow island, which extends by the Velebitski kanal (Velebit channel), parallel to the mainland coast. South-west coast of the island is low and the north-east is steep and high, this one also has the bay of Pag. The major part of the island is in stone, and the minority is covered by maquis.
The island has a Mediterranean climate, but none of the other Croatian islands is in the coup of bora such as Pag. Over the Velebitski kanal (Velebit channel) it brings along a salt mist. This falls on the dewy grass so that is an excellent food for sheep. From here comes famous Pag food products such as cheese, Pag ham and Pag lamb.
